Should Bellingham hopes to earn his place once again into the English best team, he would be wise to cut out the unnecessary reactions. His reaction after noticing that he was being shown after a match of mixed performance in the match against Albania was not good enough.

"I don’t want to blow it out of proportion but I hold to my words 'conduct is crucial' and respect for the teammates who come in," Tuchel said. "Decisions are made and you need to comply when you're on the field."

The midfielder must understand. It was unnecessary for a strop. The captain had recently scored to make the national team leading by two in an inconsequential fixture, there were six minutes left and the player, following an inconsistent display, was just shown a yellow for a foul on Armando Broja. It was not a debatable decision. In fact it might have been reckless for the manager to keep Bellingham on the pitch because it was possible Bellingham would be suspended of the first match of the tournament by receiving a second caution.

Drawing Attention to Himself

But Bellingham turned the spotlight on himself. There was no disguising the player's disappointment when he clocked that his replacement was ready for Morgan Rogers. Ultimately the squad's strength was decisive. Tuchel threw on Foden, who appeared more naturally fitted to the role in which Bellingham operated during the first half, and the Arsenal winger. Later Saka whipped in a corner kick for Harry Kane to score the first goal. It highlighted that set pieces are going to be vital at the World Cup.

Relationship Not Broken

Nevertheless, the focus was on Bellingham. The brilliance of Rashford’s assist for the second goal was somewhat overlooked in the ridiculousness of the Rogers substitution. After the final whistle, everyone was watching Bellingham. The coach approached behind him and pushed the Real Madrid midfielder to acknowledge the English fans. The bond between them is not broken. Tuchel hasn't decided to discard Bellingham yet. However, whether the coach is prepared to give him a starring role is not guaranteed.
