Jude Bellingham Must Drop the Immature behavior to Reclaim a Key Position With Coach Tuchel.

Should Bellingham hopes to earn his place once again into the English best team, he would be wise to cut out the unnecessary reactions. His reaction after noticing that he was being shown after a match of mixed performance in the match against Albania was not good enough.

"I don’t want to blow it out of proportion but I hold to my words 'conduct is crucial' and respect for the teammates who come in," Tuchel said. "Decisions are made and you need to comply when you're on the field."

The midfielder must understand. It was unnecessary for a strop. The captain had recently scored to make the national team leading by two in an inconsequential fixture, there were six minutes left and the player, following an inconsistent display, was just shown a yellow for a foul on Armando Broja. It was not a debatable decision. In fact it might have been reckless for the manager to keep Bellingham on the pitch because it was possible Bellingham would be suspended of the first match of the tournament by receiving a second caution.

Drawing Attention to Himself

But Bellingham turned the spotlight on himself. There was no disguising the player's disappointment when he clocked that his replacement was ready for Morgan Rogers. His arms went up in exasperation and although he shook Tuchel’s hand after making his way to the touchline there was no doubt that Tuchel was not impressed.

This is the challenge that Bellingham must overcome. He congratulated his teammate for delivering the cross for Kane to head in his second of the night, but everything else was counterproductive. There was no chance complaining was going to alter the decision. The German has talked so much about following squad protocols and the necessity of showing proper conduct.

In the Spotlight

Bellingham, not included in last month’s squad, has faced close inspection upon his return to the team in the current camp. Essentially his place has been in question and he has not done himself any favours with his response to coming off the pitch as England completed a perfect qualifying campaign by defeating a feisty challenge from their opponents.

The Coach's Plan

This implies it's unclear on how England perform optimally including Bellingham. The performance was not definitive. Tuchel tried new things by the coach at the start. Under him, England have gained the team a clear system in recent months, employing a defensive midfielder, a box-to-box player, a playmaker and out-and-out wingers, but the approach changed versus Albania. The young defender was given his first cap, Wharton made his first start internationally and the positioning of John Stones as an auxiliary midfielder created a passing resemblance to City's team that won three trophies.

Mixed Performance

His performance was inconsistent. He made a chance for Eze during the second half but often looked too desperate to impress. He made many poorly executed passes. An unnecessary confrontation against an opponent early on. England's play was messy for much of the second half. One Albania chance resulted from Bellingham squandered possession. His caution occurred when he lost the ball from Broja and fouled the attacker.

Squad Strength Shows

Ultimately the squad's strength was decisive. Tuchel threw on Foden, who appeared more naturally fitted to the role in which Bellingham operated during the first half, and the Arsenal winger. Later Saka whipped in a corner kick for Harry Kane to score the first goal. It highlighted that set pieces are going to be vital at the World Cup.

Relationship Not Broken

Nevertheless, the focus was on Bellingham. The brilliance of Rashford’s assist for the second goal was somewhat overlooked in the ridiculousness of the Rogers substitution. After the final whistle, everyone was watching Bellingham. The coach approached behind him and pushed the Real Madrid midfielder to acknowledge the English fans. The bond between them is not broken. Tuchel hasn't decided to discard Bellingham yet. However, whether the coach is prepared to give him a starring role is not guaranteed.
